1. Practice makes perfect
It is advisable to make a trial run for your makeup a month before the wedding, then again, a week before. Also, it is recommended to take photos under the different kinds of lightning (fluorescent, candlelight, natural etc.) to spot and review the effect of light.
2. Take care of your skin
Girl, whether you prefer the service of pro or DIY, you must take care of your skin. If you have an extra budget, start getting a monthly facial (at least 3 to 4 before the wedding).
3. Don’t replace all your existing makeup
Don’t switch the product that brings perfect finish and match your skin tone. If you are a bride that doesn’t usually wear a lot of makeup. In the trial run, you will figure it out, if what products will work for you.
4. Set aside extra time on your BIG DAY
The last thing you want is getting flustered and rushed. I always start my makeup application with the eyes first, if there’s eyeshadow fall out or any mistake, it will be easy to correct without disturbing the rest of the makeup. If you finished early, then you can relax and chill out with your bridesmaid.
5. Go for ‘long-lasting’, ‘long-wear’, and ‘waterproof’
This will help to hold the makeup from hug, tears, and sweat that the bride will encounter throughout the day.
6. Avoid ‘anti-aging’, ‘high-definition’, and ‘SPF’
As there will be lots of photo shoots, the element above will create a white cast in your photo. Don’t get me wrong, these products are great when used minimally, however, when used a little bit too much, the particles in the product will act as a mirror and reflect the flash of the camera.
7. Always keep in mind the wedding theme
The weather, location, and color schemes must be considered in choosing and buying products. Of course, consider the style that you want to achieve, but you should still feel like yourself. This is your big day so pump it up.
8. Time to be a Bridal Goddess
To avoid any spilling in your dress, do the makeup first. Be cautious about putting your wedding dress, carefully cover your face to prevent the stain on the dress.
After washing your face, you can apply either airbrush or your regular makeup.
Airbrush makeup is different from traditional makeup. Instead of applying makeup by hand with sponge and brush, this system uses a sprayer. The learning curve can be steep for some people.
However, all packages have instruction inside, besides, there is a lot of YouTube videos for the DIY. Read more about airbrush makeup if you are a first-time user.
Although it is a bit expensive than regular makeup, it is preferred and favored by most of the professional artist. It is widely used in a photo shoot, wedding, and prom, of course, you can use it in everyday makeup. This product gives a flawless and natural-looking appearance on camera.
Here are a few must-do things with your regular makeup.
- Primer or moisturizer
It will prevent layering too many products on your skin. It will also help the makeup to last longer and smooth the skin surface.
It’s important that your foundation is working on your skin type. For oily skin avoid foundation with a dewy finish, if you have a dry skin avoid the overly matte formula.
It is suggested to use the fine milled translucent formula. It will blur the look of fine lines and pores.
If you have dry skin use the cream type blusher, otherwise use the powder blusher for oily skin or combination skin.
It will give a more defined appearance, apply the lighter side to the skin you wish to highlight and the darker side where the sunlight naturally kisses your face.
It should look natural and well-shaped. Use a precision pencil to fill the area of sparseness.
False lashes are great. Use a gel eyeliner and tubular mascara so that your eye makeup is tear proof.
A lip liner will keep everything in place, especially during the kiss.
