Fawns (baby deer) are probably one of the cutest animals in the entire animal kingdom. One look at them will melt even the coldest of hearts and make you go “Aww!”
If you’re from a wooded area, you’re probably no stranger to deer. They are seen roaming in herds all over the country. Some farmers consider them to be pests as they will devour your vegetable garden in a flash!
If you’ve seen Bambi, then you probably have a soft spot for these adorable creatures. What’s sweeter than a baby deer? Three of them!
That’s what happened to Imgur user Amscolie when she accidentally left her back door open. She went outside to check on the deer she takes care of before an upcoming storm, but couldn’t find them anywhere. The deer, however, had ideas of their own.
According to AccuWeather, animals are far better at detecting weather than humans can ever hope to be. It’s part of their survival instinct. They can easily sense changes in air pressure and hear beyond the capabilities of a human ear. This is precisely why dogs, horses, and birds tend to be jittery before a thunderstorm or other big weather changes.
And Amscolie’s deer was no exception.
Three baby deer snuck into her house through the open back door to seek shelter from the upcoming storm. Amscolie was hoping to give them a shelter to weather the storm, but these fawns already had their own solid survival plan!
I raise orphaned wildlife. Recently, the back door was open as a storm was coming. The deer was nowhere to be found. I went inside, was heading to the front door, only to see them next to an end table in the living room. I told them they could sleep in the house for the night because it was going to be nasty.
If you are a pet owner, you probably know the panicky feeling when you can’t find your pet before a bad weather. But these deer were wise and knew exactly what to do.
“How could you ever say no to a face like this?”, she added.
She and the three fawns spent the storm indoors with lots of snuggling. According to Amsoclie, deer show their gratitude just like dogs, with lots of exuberant kisses to show their appreciation!
A happy ending after all.
