“None are so old as those who have outlived enthusiasm” – Henry David Thoreau
Pets, particularly dogs, live their short life to the fullest. As a dog lover, you’re probably familiar with the feeling watching your puppy turn into a full-grown dog almost overnight. The small cuddly little thing that used to sit in your lap is now full-sized. Although it doesn’t stop the dog from jumping into your lap, it does show signs of aging and fatigued behavior as time passes. It sadly sweet.
For us as humans, we feel the time we spent with our best friends is all too short. The warm comfort we feel in our hearts from the precious bond never goes away, even when they are no longer with us.
Photographer Amanda Jones did an amazing project to capture the unique and precious lives of our dogs. She dedicated the past 20 years of her life to this project and the pictures below tell us a story that can never be expressed with words alone.
Amanda is recognized as a leader in the field of dog portrait photography and her work has graced book and magazine covers, numerous pet food packages and hundreds of happy clients’ walls. Dog Years is her fifth book featuring dog photography. It describes the timeless love and the precious bond we share with our canine companions which deepen and mature over time in their journey from playful pups to wise old friends.
