TyLon Pittman, a 5-year-old boy from Bryam, Mississippi called 911 to warn the police that Dr. Seuss’s Grinch may try and steal Christmas from his family.
After watching “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” for the first time, little TyLon decided to take matters into his own hands.
The Grinch is a fictional green character created by Dr. Seuss. He is best known as the main character of the children’s book How the Grinch Stole Christmas! (1957). The grumpy, anti-holiday spirit of the character has led to the term “Grinch” being added to commonplace vocabulary, referring to a person opposed to Christmas celebrations or to someone with a coarse, greedy attitude.
Without the knowledge of his family, he placed a handful of calls to 911 before hanging up. But when the operator called back, TyLon issued them a big warning about the green devil.
The 911 Call:
“Watch out for the Grinch, because the Grinch is going to steal Christmas, OK?”
TyLon’s dad realized his son is on the phone and took over to apologize but the 911 operator said, “It’s definitely been the most interesting thing that’s happened, as far as 911 hang-ups, for me.”
He told his mother, Teresa Pittman, that their Christmas is safe as he had called the police to arrest the Grinch.
She did not believe him until police officer Lauren Develle knocked on their door.
“Our dispatcher posted a status on Facebook that she had received a call from a little boy… and he told her he thought the Grinch was going to be coming to steal his Christmas,” Develle said.
Develle patiently listened to the boy’s tale and assured him that the grumpy, anti-holiday spirit will not be able to steal Christmas.
Watch the Video:
“So, what are you going to do if he tries to steal your Christmas?” Develle asked TyLon.
The boy added: “I want y’all to come back to my house and take him to jail.”
If the Grinch does show up, he plans on wrestling him and holding him until the police arrive.
“I’m going to say, ‘Put your hands behind your back and get down on the ground,’ then when he gets on the ground, I’m gonna say, ‘Why are you stealing Christmas?’ ” he added.
On Monday night, TyLon “arrested” a mischievous Grinch, who thanked him for saving Christmas. It was all organized by the local police department. He also received a personalized tour of the station.
He wants to become a police officer when he gets older. They kindly await his application.
The story went viral when TyLon’s brother, TeDera Dwayne Graves posted the whole story on Facebook. He was home for the holidays from the Air Force.
Dear Grinch, you might want to avoid this house on Christmas.
