Please don’t be surprised by this. You must be thinking – how can you improve your social life by being alone. In fact, you actually improve your ability to understand and respond to people much better when you take time for yourself.
Let me explain this. When you’re always with people and serving them, you will feel drained at one point. It is true that other people can drain our energy, and make us feel tired.
In order to re-energize yourself, you need this most popular concept of 2019 – ‘me’ time. Now, ‘me’ time is actually the time you spend all alone doing what you love, and doing what relaxes you. The more time you spend with yourself, the more you will know yourself.
Often times, we end up at the wrong place at the wrong time in a social context. Have you ever thought why that happens? When we attract a negative situation, we do so because we are not at peace with ourselves.
In order to restore balance and harmony within ourselves, we have to spend time alone, away from people. You’re going to be feeling so much better about life and yourself, when you are spending time on yourself, instead of trying to fulfill other people’s expectations.
2. Spirituality and Religion
Religion was really popular before modern philosophy took over. Regardless, religion is still effective in helping you create a healthier and better life for yourself.
No matter the religion you were blessed with, follow it. Some religions are quite strict on rules. But don’t give up because it’s difficult.
Discipline in religion and spirituality exists for a very good reason. Just like our parents discipline us since childhood so that we can earn a good life for ourselves, by disciplining yourself in the path of God, you are setting yourself up for huge spiritual rewards.
Some people may not really understand the connection between life and spirituality. In fact, life is spirituality. The only way to get through life happy, healthy, and untarnished is to follow the spiritual path.
My life changed completely when I discovered this truth. You can also learn the ways of a spiritually-fulfilled life by reading the works of Thich Nhat Hanh, Dalai Lama, Paul Coelho, Howard Cutler, Louise Hay and Elizabeth Clare Prophet.
I learned about the importance of nutrition from Louise Hay. Before I discovered her, I was eating just like every other average person. Hence, I never realized that my allergies, panic attacks, depression, and stomach upsets were caused by my poor diet.
I also didn’t realize that most of the products we buy from the supermarket contain toxic, artificial ingredients. Education definitely set me free. Now I only consume natural food with high dosage of essential minerals, vitamins, rich protein content, unsaturated fat, good portion of carbohydrates, and tons of water.
Additionally, try herbal remedies for any particular health condition that you have. They are safer than medical alternatives, and are also more effective.
Within a week, your body will feel better than ever before. You will also be happier, healthier, and more productive.
4. Yoga and Exercise
Most of you are already familiar with the benefits of yoga and exercise. You also know that there are specific poses and exercises to help improve particular parts of your body.
If you have depression, you must practice the poses that can eradicate your mood disorder. Yoga can give relief to every disease, even serious illnesses like cancer. If practiced daily along with other necessary chores, you can even cure it.
All spiritual gurus know that when we invite a disease into our body, we do so subconsciously, without proper awareness. That is why, they always teach us to be aware of our actions every second.
Every disease is caused by an emotion that we have been ignoring, either due to negligence or a lack of ‘me’ time. Emotion is energy. Therefore, when you let the suppressed emotion live in your body without releasing it, it eventually becomes an illness.
If you already practice yoga and exercise, you are able to release all the negative emotions from your body. Get to know about which emotion can cause which disease here.
Not everybody is educated about how to deal with negative feelings, and what happens is that, when they are suffering from bad emotions, they often let it out on others. It could be your co-worker, your friends, and even your parents.
You have to ‘eliminate’ or ‘cut off’ people who are toxic to you. They are not bad people. They are just unable to help themselves and others due to their upbringing, culture, lifestyle, daily habits or past trauma.
On the other hand, you must eliminate all the things that you think are hampering your personal progress. For example, if you notice that your social media newsfeed has been the reason behind you being unable to give time towards spirituality and religion, cut that habit off.
Again, if you feel drained and negative every time you encounter with a certain individual (friend, family or colleague), then that person is toxic for you. You must do your best to stay away from that person, even if you have to see them every day.
But by no means engage in a fight with that person. Don’t let your negativity out on other people. Let those bad energy clear away through meditation.
All the religions of the world stress the importance of cleaning before beginning a ritual. We must clean our bodies first before we clean our souls through prayers and ceremonies. In addition, we must wear clean clothes, and pray in an atmosphere that is clean and safe.
A noisy and distracting environment can impact your mood, and ruin your concentration when you’re praying. What is outside of us influence what is inside us, and vice versa.
Buddhist monks clean their temples themselves, not because they have no other choice, but because cleaning gives their souls the opportunity to purge impurities. We should get rid of dirt from our souls on a daily basis, just as we must bathe every day to cleanse all forms of impurities from our bodies.
Furthermore, some people consider cleaning their own homes therapeutic. An organized home can reduce mental anxiety to a great extent.
The human body has been blessed with its own cleansing system through breathing, urinating, sweating, vomiting, and defecation. Without our lungs, kidneys, and various glands helping us discharge all the toxins in our bodies, we will most likely meet death sooner than we have assumed.
7. Move On
We come to this world alone, we also leave this place alone. Anything worldly that we get attached to only make it harder for us to die in peace.
Many people fall ill when they unconsciously store feelings of resentment, regret, and guilt in their bodies. Even so, you can’t blame them. Learning to forgive is a skill that we learn gradually.
The world can be quite cruel sometimes, but holding onto grudges and feelings of vengeance can result in developing serious issues later in life. The only way to release these toxic emotions from your body is to forgive, and move on.
The path of revenge will keep you focused on punishment, and will prevent you from focusing on all the good things in life, such as happiness, joy, peace, and contentment.
At the same time, when you put attention on toxic emotions, you attract toxic situations in your life. Hence, the only way to escape the shackles of destructive pattern is to be merciful, and move forward to a better future.
When you first start a schedule, it may feel like a chore. But eventually, when you get used to it, it becomes a habit.
As you keep doing these things everyday, you won’t be able to stop doing it. In fact, you will feel ‘off’ when you skip one of these activities. And that is a good thing.
Because your body and spirit will get so used to praying, meditating, forgiving, bathing, eating healthy, cleaning and living the best possible life, you won’t be able to imagine a day without it! Moreover, your body will keep telling you to do things that ‘feels good’.
So what happens is that you will become used to doing things that feel good to your body and soul. This is how you step into a positive, uplifting life. And you will never get tired of it!
Now, more and more people are awakening to building a better life for themselves and others. I believe we are very lucky to be living at a time like this.
If you are burdened with sadness, irritability, frustration and disappointment, please know that you can always change your situation. You don’t have to be stuck in a prison of vicious cycle forever.
By changing your daily habits, you can change your whole life. Even if you had a difficult past, you can always change the present and eventually the future. You have all the power inside you just utilize it appropriately and you will have a healthier happy life.
