Dogs at the shelter are often neglected and most of the time they are put to sleep. But that changed when ‘Russ’ the pitbull found a loving home with 20-year-old Kayla Filoon. Kayla, a student and volunteer in an animal shelter as a dog-walker, felt a connection when Russ was brought in.

# Meet ‘Russ’ The Pitbull
“Russ came in as a stray, and he was really beaten up,” Filoon said. “He was missing fur on his tail and ears and was also terribly skinny.” The 20-year-old woman added, “He was just sitting there calmly, staring at me. And I thought I need to take him now.”
# Kayla Rescued Him From The Shelter
Filoon quickly started the adoption process as the shelter recent put down 15 dogs. “Any dog had a chance of being put down, especially the ones who were sicker, and Russ was definitely one of them,” said Kayla.
# And Took Him Home
The moment she took him home, she knew Russ was the perfect dog. On one occasion, she was doing homework and he was trying to cuddle with me. A friend of Kayla took a photo and posted on the social media and it went viral.
# Now Russ Can’t Stop Hugging Kayla
Russ already knows some basic commands and he is very happy with his new home. He always stays close to his new mom. Kayla hopes that this photo will inspire people to adopt sheltered dogs.
